Fulfilling the original mandate of India's first Prime Minister, the Nehru Planetarium is now a Definiti Optical theater with exciting new capabilities. The United States Small Business Administration (SBA) awarded Sky-Skan as "NH Small Business Exporter of the Year" for 2010 in a ceremony today in Bedford, New Hampshire. Sky-Skan president Steven Savage accepted the award in a video from Lanzhou, China. Vice-president Virginia Savage was on-stage for the ceremony, which honored a number of small business leaders based in New Hampshire. Sky-Skan's recent exports have grown in recent years with strong sales in Europe, China, India, Australia, and New Zealand.
Sky-Skan's exports have grown to more than half of its business. With new markets opening up for large and small Definiti theaters, Sky-Skan expects a continued increase of exports with assistance from its partner companies. Sky-Skan partners with PCCW-HKT, based in Hong Kong, for its projects in China, including recently installed or announced theaters in Macao, Dunhuang, and Yulin. Sky-Skan is assisted in India by Young India Films, and will install its first Definiti Optical system in Lakshadweep. In Japan, Konica-Minolta is installing the world's largest planetarium with a Definiti 8K system in Nagoya. Woosung Precision Optics Co. is Sky-Skan's partner in South Korea, with several projects complete. Exports to South America have grown significantly with partner OMNI LUX in Brazil. These international partners share in the success of Sky-Skan's exports in recent years. Sky-Skan Europe has also been seeing significant activity, including a 1,600 square meter (17,000 square feet) screen for the Saudi Arabia Pavilion at Shanghai World Expo 2010. With developing markets in China, India, and South Africa, Sky-Skan is poised to remain at the front of the digital fulldome planetarium market for years to come.
