Interact! PASS Classic is a group of show kits on a variety of astronomy subjects for school children. Each kit contains activities before, during, and after sessions in the planetarium. The activities utilize the planetarium's classical planetarium controls, and some multimedia imagery. Each subject is taught using an integrated combination of the planetarium system and hands-on items.
Interact! PASS Classic planetarium programs are based on the time-tested Planetarium Activities for Student Success (PASS) modules developed by planetarium staff at Lawrence Hall of Science, University of California. They bring audience-participation-style learning of basic astronomy to both digital and traditional planetariums. Each module includes in electronic form everything you need before, during, and after time in the dome: narration/script (PDF), still images, movies, animations, music, and pre/post classroom activities related to the teaching concepts.
What do I need to run Interact! PASS Classic?
Interact! PASS Classic comes on DVD discs and consists of PDF documentation, images, and some sound and video clips. The main focus of the show utilizes the classic planetarium controls. For planetariums without digital fulldome, some work will be required to format the imagery to your theater system. Digital fulldome systems will also require some formatting to bring up the graphics, but since they are already in electronic format there are less steps. Sky-Skan is also releasing Interact! for Definiti, which will be formatted for DigitalSky software running Definiti theaters. To visit the Definiti version, click here.
